Why use a broker? It’s a question I get asked from time to time, often from those who went directly to their bank when they bought their property decades ago. The mortgage landscape has changed since then, and the terrain can be difficult to navigate.

That’s where brokers come in – they work directly with clients to determine their needs and then help find them the product that will work for them, while getting them the best possible deal.

Here are just a few of the reasons that you should consult with a broker when you start considering your next mortgage:

  • Mortgage brokers save you time. Instead of having to contact and negotiate with each of the financial institutions directly, a broker has access to the offers from each lender.  They can put this information to work directly for the client.
  • Brokers offer the personal touch. They are able to help guide you through the process, and can explain the options that a mortgage has for accelerated repayment. They can also show you, at a glance, what kind of impact that repayment will have on your mortgage. They will also ensure your mortgage fits within your budget.
  • Brokers save you money. Mortgages have become increasingly competitive, and brokers have access to a wide variety of rates and products. They negotiate on your behalf too, so you can leave the poker face at home. And you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage broker directly because they work out the fee with the lender.
  • Brokers will stick with you. If you have questions down the line about the options you have with your mortgage or you need to renew your term, brokers are happy to help. Brokers often have priority access to a lender, so they can get you the information you need efficiently and painlessly.
